Students use a variety of math skills in Computer Applications classes although they sometimes do not realize it. Math is important skill for every class. I believe the math skills that my students learn in my computer classes are real-life applicable. They learn things that they can take from the classroom and apply it to their own life now and in the future.
The goal setting that I did throughout this year, I am hoping will transfer to the students' personal and professional lives. Goal setting allows students to focus on what they would like to accomplish during the course of a day, a week, or more. We used the procedural self-talk as we reflected on whether or not we were able to meet our goals. It was good to see how honest the students were with their reflections. They know exactly why or why not they did not accomplish a goal and what steps to change their behaviors.
